Does anyone have any suggestions for horse insurance? As the dogs are all with Pet Plan and their cover seems OK, I was thinking of using them for the horse I'm thinking of buying.

Can anyone recommend anyone else? They must cover a horse which is to be kept in working livery at the local stables.

Hi

Blue used to be on working livery a few years ago and he is insured through South Essex insurance brokers. They have always been very good and paid up for all the claims i have made including my young mare who had to be pts :-( and she had only been insured two months and they paid the full purchase price no questions asked :-). Also all my vets few claims have been paid very quickly :-). They have good range of policys too as i only pay £89/year for my 24 year old and about £200/year for Blue who is now 17 - his cover is more comprensive than Luckys as he still has Vet Fee cover for illness which they won't do once they turn 18 :-(

There phone number is 01708 850000 or go to SEIB. If you give them a call they are normally very helpful.

A 16.3hh black gelding, 11yo ex-eventer, called Bob. Built like an outhouse! Vet is going on Friday to give him the once over. He's vastly reduced as he is an asset in divorce proceedings.

Hope all goes well with the vetting they can be very nerve racking - i sold one of mine last year as i couldn't cope with three and i was knacked after the vetting - the vet had me trot him up about ten times because he kept moving and getting out of the flexion test little b****r :D

Hi 9th

Well he's just about to turn two and has got a bit of what I call Spring Fever (i.e. he's charging about like a possessed nutcase!! and everything is scary you know stuff he sees every day like buckets, rugs, headcollars traffic and sheep!! he's a bit of a narna at the mo basically). Anyhoo he has been charging about a lot recently and his pal left this week so he's out with the sheep for a bit until his new friend arrives (a week or two) and when the vet came to give him his routine jabs he came up the field looking like someone had kicked him up the backside. He's slightly twisted his pelvis acorrding to the osteo (she was extremely thorough and gave me lots of excerises and stretches to do with him over the next week - she's just left). Anyway she doesn't think I have anything major to worry about he's just pinged himself once too often over the past few days we think. Silly animal - convinced that this is all becuase I said first in hand show in a month :D :-). Love him to pieces though! If you don't mind me asking 9th where abouts are you based?

Vetting is now off. The horse in question is an asset in a divorce and now the two parties are arguing about whether one of them can sell him or not. mad

So. I have to wait until they come a decision. :-(

Sorry to hear that hope they sort it out for your sake and the horses sake soon. :-( You must be really disappointed. Can't be much fun being and animal owned by two folk who are not speaking.

Keep me posted 9th.

Apparently I'll know in a few days what they've decided. But at least they're arguing before the vetting and I haven't just wasted a day off work and £160. ;-)

It may be a blessing. In Le Trec how would I get on the wrong side of a 16.3hh monster?

You can do Le Trec side saddle. But how do you do the getting on the wrong side then?

Bum (sorry!) how inconsiderate of them :-( Are you on line at the mo? You replied really quickly.
I'v ehad to take work home for today as my boy needed me around to see the osteo - incidentally I have a friend who does le trec on a 17.3hh Shire Warmblood cross and manages fine even if she is a bit of a hedge monster!!

Hiya

Sorry I know this is a bit late and you probably have already sorted your insurance, but another company apart from Pet Plan is E & L (Equine & leisure). They are also very good with claims etc. I currently have mine insured through Pet Plan.
