Went home lunch time and Zac had bitten a Bic Razor blade up recovered all the debree
except the blade. I am really worried he has swallowed the blade we looked in his mouth and no cuts or abrasions ?we are just really hoping the blade has gone down the
floorboards, The Vets have said if I see any blood at all too come straight in with him
so I am really crossing my fingers he will be fine....

I'd have thought an X-ray was in order to check if the blade was in him or not. If not then you can breathe a sigh of relief and look harder for where it might be - if not then you'll know to be careful. Plus if it's like children, depending on which way it went down, ie into the stomach tract or the airway - then that will determine what action needs to be taken if any. If it's in the airway they usually operate as it can obsruct the breathing and has no way of getting out naturally.

In this case I would have thought it was vital to know where the blade was.

Well the vet questioned me on the phone and at this stage said he thinks Zac has not swallowed the blade, But Its great clinic I can take him day or night he told me to watch him very carefully for the next few hours .just phoned home and he was rushing about with his rag but I am still on tender hooks ,But Zac due to go into the vets soon for his chip might bring that forward a few days .

I think for my own peace of mind if nothing else I would want an x-ray done rather than waiting. If it had been something not quite as sharp as a razor blade then maybe I would wait but at least a razor blade should show up easily on the x-ray. I'm not sure how the dog would pass it without injury though, anyone else know ?
