It just gets on my t**s when people mess about crossing different breeds just to make money of the pups I found this in the free ad's Bullmastiff cross Alsation (mum) cross Rottweiler (dad) Puppies. 1 Male & 1 Bitch remaining for sale. Ready from 12th Dec. Both parents have ex temperments, Puppies raised indoors with children  Deposits can be taken to secure a pup.
ex-tempermants how could this be you have 3 dogs breed for working and gaurding what is your view on this ad.  

Same here it annoys me too, god knows what the hip condition is like in the puppies.

Sounds a bit like an ad in my local freeadds.
This time it's GSD x Rottweiller and in the ad the pups are only 4 wks old
They claim that good country homes are important but still want £150 for them
the number advertised is my village too and I'm sure last year they had
GSD x Newfie or Newfie x Rott puppies advertised

I have a Chow X Rottweiler (accidental mating who we took in at six months of age) who has a wonderful temperament despite being unsocialised when he came to live with us...not something you'd necessarily expect given the combination of breeds and terrible start in life.

We see quite a lot of Rottie GSD crosses ehre in Bristol with several coming to our training classes over the years.  What difference teh bullmastif breed input would make I have no idea, but I expect the pups woudl be large and possibly squarer than a straight GSD cross.  Also both Rotties and Bullmastiffs have a more taciturn nature than your average GSD.

One pure breed mated with differnet pure breed isn't fair but we all know accidents can happen. It's not right but it can happen.  But an already crossed dog with another is just irresponsible!!!  The crossed dog should have been 'done' long time ago to prevent the like of accidents.And now you got a litter of pups that have 4dogs in them NO gaurantee of temperement or health, poor things.

Basically you now have a mongrel and not just a crossbreed.  There are hundreds of these in rescue centres up and down the country, and I certainly would not be buying one rather prefering to give the smae money to the rescue for their work.  If these people can't sell these pups they will certainly be more careful not to breed again.

Saw an ad in the local pet shop recently - Dogue de Bordeaux crossed with Neapolitan Mastiff pups   They were a deliberate cross and size, strength and guarding ability were emphasised   Words fail me

There is a new website now, only for cross breed dogs, which they state are alot "healthier" than Pedigree dogs,  I counted 54 different xbreed dogs for example a St Bernadoodle.

Unfortunately there are books out there (one I'm thinking of in particular :rolleyes: ) who actually state that these crossbreeds are healthier because of hybrid vigour :rolleyes: the person writing that should definately know better But how is the general public supposed to know that this is at best just a gamble after all it's written in a book by a household name associated with dogs

What is the matter with these people apart from they are looking to have a good christmas on money mad from breeding dogs !!!

What really p***es me off about this nonsense is the demise of the good old muttley dog!  I've had some fine crossbred dogs in the past but for sure, nobody ever pretended they were "designer" puppies! On the contrary, they were excellent doggy chums who lived long and happy lives without needing to be labelled as anything or sold at stupid prices to people daft enough not to know what they are buying and even dafter to pay the ludicrous prices these "designer" puppies are advertised at.

Yea they usually were simply called mongrels, bitsa's or heinz 57's :D

My grandmother had a beautiful black bitch about spanile size with a coat liek a flatcoat and drop ears.  Her name was Muszka (Polish for fly as she was black).

I've got a 'Mutley' type dog. I know his mum is a Border Terrier, and we were told that in all likelihood, his dad was the Parsons Russell from a nearby farm, but he's a lot bigger than both breeds, and looks a bit spaniel like at times!!! He was what we now like to call a 'happy accident', caused by an unnoticed hole in a fence.

He's a lovely character, and I would hate to label him with any kind of silly 'crossbreed name', god knows he gets called enough soppy names by me at home . I totally agree that crossbreeds should not be intentionally bred, as it can be detrimental to the dogs themselves, and also to the breeds in the long term.

I often got asked what breed my last dog was, he was an Afghan accidentally crossed with a large 'jack russel' terrier   he had the shape of a Bedlington and all the coat and movement of an Afghan :D   He was adorable and utterly gorgeous :D   I always said he was a black welsh dog :D   as that was what he was, black (with the paler brindle bits on paws and legs, etc ) and born and lived in Wales :D  I had loads of offers for him and also requests to "use him on my bitch"  :rolleyes:  I always said he was neutered   I never saw the point of pretending he was some special breed, although many people wanted him to be  

Until the designer crossbreeds, most people locally would give mongrel/crossbreed pups away, glad of a good home for them as they were worth nothing moneywise, but everything companionwise   the only non pedigree dogs worth anything then was a good working dog or pup from good working parents
