As you know the SWD is very rare in the UK. Can I suggest that you contact the breeder on our list, as they may know of someone planning a litter.

Hi George.

I have a bitch who is due in season shortly. Unf. she will be 8 at the end of October so if she doesn't come in within the next few weeks I won't be able to breed from her.

I have req. with the KC that I can have a litter as the dog I want to use has just been imported. So I will have to wait and see. There is also someone else who is thinking of having a litter.

I must warn you that there is a long waiting list, especially if you wanted a bitch.

Why are you interested in the breed? Have you seen them before?

No we don't have one. We are very wary re. this from what we have seen of other breeds who have started one. We of course will be starting one but at the moment there are a number of friendly people who will help with any queries that people have and hopefully soon we will have another fun day.

We managed to hold out for 11 years before we started a Breed Club for the Bracco, and then it was under duress. I wish you luck !

Hi Diane,
I first saw this breed at Crufts this year. I was looking around for a medium sized dog with a view to training it for agility. Someone on a different breed stand, at Discover Dogs, asked if I had seen or considered a SWD. I walked straight round to the stand and was immediately smitten. I had initially been concentrating on midi sized breeds only but to be honest when I saw these fabulous dogs, size immediately became irrelevant. I discussed the matter with my husband (I have found this to be advantageous) and we agreed that this was the breed of dog I would like, care how long I have to wait. I did contact a lady regarding a bitch puppy she has bred but as this pup is now around nine or ten months old, the lady has decided to keep her, as naturally her and her family have become very attached to her.
I would certainly prefer to have a bitch puppy but if the litter is all males, then I may not have a choice. At the end of the day I would just like to own one of these happy, lively little dogs, that hopefully would like to do agility. If it doesn't then we'll have to find something else to do!
I was hoping to put my name on a waiting list for a puppy but as there seemed to be some confusion as to when the next litter would be planned, and who to leave my name with, you have absolutely no idea how much you have cheered me up and raised my hopes. I was beginning to think it would be a couple of years maybe, before I was able to have a SWD.

Which day did you go on? I was there Sunday and Monday. Do you realise that their height can vary greatly from aboout 15" to 20". (bitches are the smallest, usually!!)
