Does anyone know of anywhere that sells jim-jams specifically for whippets?  I'm sure our boy would love them but he won't like something that's all baggy and designed to fit standard shaped dogs.  Thanks.

If he is anything like any dog I have ever owned he would loathe sleeping in clothes.  Sufficient bedding and a draught proofed bed is the ideal for any dog.

Hi Isabel.  I'm sure you're right - but we'd still like to try.  He has vetbeds and furry/fleecy stuff and his crate is covered over at night for extra warmth but the nights sure are getting cold down here and I worry he needs more.

More bedding and a thicker cover then.  Dogs can get surprisingly warm in a cosy bed and with their own fur coat on and they will often shift into a cooler position on the edge or even out of it, there would be no escape from clothing.

HI

Maybe get in touch with your local greyhound rescue as they do pj's for greyhounds - they are basically the same as a coat but in fleece, they may do some for whippets aswell.

I'm not sure why people cover their dogs up? confused Two our our girls sleep in a cage with vet bed in the bottom in an un heated utility room that comes off the garage which is freezing in this weather!  OK so slighlty longer coats then a whippet and two of them but the cage isn't coverd or has lot's of bedding.  Also if the wid blowing into the back of the house the wind get though the cat flap.  To be honest our girls have never frozen or seemed cold.

The older boys get luxuray of laying on the heating pipes on the landing though! :D

Our whippet has almost no coat underneath and very, very short hair on top.  He always feels cold to touch first thing in the morning whereas the collie and papillon (with their long coats) always feel really warm.  Unfortunately they all have to be separated at night (safety reasons) so can't huddle up together.  We've not had a shorthair dog before, let alone an almost bald whippet and I'd hate to think we weren't looking after him right.

A nice bed of Vet Bed near a radiator should do the trick. Mine do wear coats in the winter when out for a walk, but they never had pyjamas for bed time.
