Hi, i have just started feeding my 14 month old staffy beef and tripe, iv heard this is very good for them and is known as a "muscle food", does this really make a difference then to feeding them canned foods and should the tripe be mixed with a dry complete food. He also seems to be scared of alot of things (iv had him since 9 weeks so i know he has always been treated well) such as when i pull the bin out or open the dishwasher door  he gets really scared, is this normal for a young staffy and is there anything i can do to stop it. Finally does any one know when a staffy is fully grown, i would say he is at his full height as he hasent grown taller for months but his head and body still look a bit on the small side.

Just beef and tripe is not a balanced diet.If you wish to fed this then you need to research Barf/raw feeding and do that.By only feeding beef and tripe your dog is not getting all the minerals and vitamins required.
If you cannot or do not wish to have the 'hassel' of feeding Barf then I suggest you use a good quality complete .The only complete I would suggest from a supermarket is Autarky.Also Burns is recommended by many people.
A for his nervousness...I would just carry on loving him and carring for him and hope he gets better.Get him out and about as much as possible and socialise him well.However he may just be a nevry dog....

I have a 14 month old Staffie too!

Mine is fed on NatureDiet and loves it. He is very happy and helthy with his menu. Sox is quite lean too but he is starting to fill out. Dont be in a rush to build him up as you can overdo it and he will fill out naturally. Many Staffies are over weight and new owners tend to base their experience on what they see but theres nothing worse than a fattie staffie IMHO. He will probably be fully grown at about 2 although this varies and like yours mine has reached what I belive will be his full height.

Mine is also scared of lots of things. Sometimes even me! We went to the park recently and he ran on ahead and I called him, didnt shout, but called him in a firm tone as I do every day so that he knew to return to me and he came back, sat down and promptly wet himself! I was so embarrassed as anyone who didnt know us must have thought I regularly took a big stick to him. Its strange as I never raise my voice to him and have certainly never hit him. Its just how he is. Hes also scared of cats (such a vicious devil dog, I know:)), nail clippers and the bath. Like Archer said just keep loving him and dont react when he is scared as he will take his lead from you (pardon the pun).

my devil dog (joke) is the same.  Anything with a plug on it, anything on a pole and any dog that barks at her and a particular fear/distrust and downright hatred of GSD's but don't you just love them for being such wriggly lumps of love.

depeneding on the lines the dog is from it can take up to three years of age for a staffy to fully mature
