I have posted two previous questions and have been so grateful for the replies,I hope somone out there can help me with this one. It,'s a bit long explaining, but here goes.
My dog Peg became lame about 4 months ago, holding both hind legs up, she struggles to sit properly and really can't, she sweeps both back legs to one side to sit or lay down, she was very stiff trying to get up and could no longer jump into the car.
My vet prescribed antinflammatories and glucosemne (seraquin) tablets, which she has been takeing for about 5 weeks, no real improvments so x rays of both back legs and hips, and full bloods also taken, all normal ,no bony changes no evidence of arthritis, so now has had a course of injections with a drug I think is called cartrolif or cartofen, She has had 3 and needs another 1 to complete the course. This has shown an improvment, and I am trying to be patient, but she 's not the dog she used to be, her personality seems different and I know when anyone is ill your not the same but she lays around a lot more, yelped 3 times yesterday when I was giving her a cuddle, but at one point didn't touch her, not one point on her body gives her discomfort when I touch her(and I squeezed her all over to try and find any lumps or sore spots)BUT still wants to go for a walk, with no real problem walking, she used to run like a demon, but now just a steady trot.Totally inconclusive.
If anyone has had the same thing with their dog, or who knows a vet in kent who knows stuff about this breed please post me, it just seems like a long time and Im worried she won't ever be the same happy, springy saluki again, Ash.
Hi Ash, i do hope she gets better, it's really distressing when your beloved friend isn't well. When she had an xray did they check for hip displasia? I hope someone can help you on the board. Good luck with her, take care Susan

Yes that's a good idea, because for people to help you, they'll have to ask you more questions. If your worried about anything just use a different username something silly what doesn't related to you personally or anyone else, only if that's a problem for you.

I did see something similar in a lurhcer once, saluki-sized too - he developed a form of arthritis that was caused by an immune system response to his own body, it was quite bizarre. I would imagine something like would show up on x-ray though. He went on meds (can't remember what, apologies) and was back to his old, bouncy self in about 3 weeks - this from previously being almost unable to get up or walk.
A goof, an eejit, a fruitloop and a maniac. LIfe wouldn't be the same without them
