Hi There, I have a Shih Tzu who is a very fussy eater, after a long battle getting him to eat ...I tried him on Nature Diet, he ate it well, didn't have a change over problems ( I did mix with his old food) I introduced a friend to it, and her Tzu loves it.
On another discussion board.... a member has told my friend that the protein content is way too low (10%) and that her dry dog food ( Royal Canin) has 27% protein in it, surely this is simply because that the Canin is dry and if you were to calculate the level of protein in the same dry or wet weight it would be about the same, my poor friend is now worried sick that her boy is not getting enough protein. I told her I wouldn't change because I feel my little guy is doing well on Nature diet. Anyone have any opinions on protein content of wet and dry food.
Thanks
Lynn
Hi Lynn,
There is a comparison somewhere on the board setting out approx differences in value (try the "search" facility on top right of screen) but you're right - she's not comparing two foods on a level playing field when one is moist and the other dry. Bit like comparing oranges and bananas

You're quite right in your own assumption but as I said, if you run a search, I'm pretty sure you'll find confirmation to show her in black and white if she needs further info.
Regards, Teri
Why bite when a simple growl will do

If you can't eat it or chew it, pee on it & walk away

Hey Teri, Thank you for your reply, apparently Nature Diet is about 40% protein. The poster on the other board said " your Tzu would have to get more food down that it could possibly manaage... to get that much protein from it, Hmmm Oh well, at least my friend seems happier now (I told her to come look over this site, and your replies.)
Regards
Lynn
