I have an eight week old black lab bitch who I feed thrice a day. Feeding consists of 1 cup of Pedigree Puppy food at each meal. Mealtimes take place at 5am, midday and 7pm.
The problem I have is that the puppy wolfs down the portion in no time at all and will readily eat more if given. The breeder warned me not to give more than the cup stated as these puppies are prown to overeating and obesity. The 7pm feed is followed by some play and time for pup to do its business before settling in for the evening. Sleep is normally between 7:45 and 8pm. She then wakes up each night between 2 and 3 am ravenous. If I dont feed her a small amount, she will not go back to sleep.
Am I feeding her enough? She is very lively and plays a lot with my Jack Russell bitch so is not fat at all, but not thin either!!!!
Please Help!!!!!
Thank you for the feedback from both members it is appreciated.
Had a terrible night again last night. She was up at 1am and 430 am, both times ravenous. I will be going pass the vet this morning to have her checked out and dewormed again as I cannot believe that she can be so hungry all the time.
I will be feeding her 4 times from now following the food producers instructions - i was feeding her the correct amount 3 times a day.......
My child was less maintenance than this!!!!
