I'm not sure how things pan out in the US but in the UK you simply would not get a puppy from any breeder worth buying from at Christmas time. Here we acknowledge that even when the purchaser is very geniune in their desire to have a dog for the long run, long beyond its cute Christmas puppieness through its difficult adolescent stage, through its prime and on into demanding old age Christmas is a very bad time to be integrating that longed for dog into a home invironment. Too much excitement, too many unsuitable play things left around, too many comings and goings from the home and too little of the necessary routine to enable the effective housetraining etc that will ensure the puppy becomes a much loved member of the house. Of course if this is as a present for someone else all this is tripley important infact the whole idea is a definate non starter.
