By digger (*****) [gb] Date 14.12.05 07:44 GMT
Oh er - I'm not sure I like this - when I hit 'Active Topics' I can't see which board the message comes from :-(
By Brainless (Moderator) [gb] Date 14.12.05 09:19 GMT
Yes I don't like that either as there ae soem boards I am not interested in especialy, and of course knowing a post is a Guest post can mean one takes more care in replying, as it could be a WUM.

To stop automatic email notification of replies:

1) Login to the forum
2) Go to 'options'
3) Scroll down and in the 'general options' box, you will see: Receive post reply notification by email Yes or no?
Click NO
4) Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on 'change'.

I can't see anywhere on the site that allows guests to put a query in the visitors section and have noticed that no guests have posted a post since yesterday.  confused
By mackleback (****) [gb] Date 14.12.05 12:59 GMT
Hmmmmm. confusedIt doesnt look like they are able to ask questions any more. confused

Hi Mark,

personally I find the new layout untidy and a bit too similiar to less classy forums :-(   And losing the drop down menu at the bottom of each section has certainly reduced the ease of use :-(

Sorry to whinge ;-)  On the plus side the changes to PMs is a huge winner cool

regards, Teri

Just checked out the pm's, glad you can now see what you sent instead of trying to remember :-)

I think Guests can still post, there were 2 new ones showing when I looked under the Forum section. To be honest tho, this must be one of the few sites which allows Guests to post, most other dont, to cut down on the Trolls and WUM

Mines not showing any new posts by guests/visitors questions? only the one thats about KC reg.

I love seeing the who is currently logged in section :-)

I think it is just a case of getting used to the new as not everybody will be happy but that is life :D

I am also not too keen on the layout. I preferred unread and new posts all to aligned to the left of the page as I felt it was easier to read. That said, I really like the ToDo feature - several times I have wanted to reply to a post later on and have forgotten.
By MarianneB (*****) [gb] Date 14.12.05 23:56 GMT
ToDo has always been there. :-) I've used it for months.

It has??

Was it always where you reply to posts? I can't say I have noticed it before :p
By MarianneB (*****) [gb] Date 15.12.05 14:47 GMT
It was under something like miscellaneous (next to the reply button), you could either add it ToDo or report a post to admin. :-)

Ah ok - many thanks. I obviously never bothered to check what the options were under Misc then :p

Hi Mark! As I'm a total dork when it comes to computers, can you tell me how I can increase the number of posts on each page? I've just read my 7th page of Unread posts, with each page saying something about being cut off due to page length. Also (sorry to be a niggle) but it's much harder to reply to posts now - it used to be possible to reply from the New Posts page, but now one has to go to the actual thread, but can't get beyond the first page so can't reply ...
If it ain't broke, don't fix it
By Teri (*****) [gb] Date 16.12.05 23:28 GMT
HI JG,

In the absence of Mark eek set your topic and thread values to 0 which is the allowed max per page.
not a fan of the new layout for replies either :D

By Brainless (Moderator) [gb] Date 17.12.05 15:15 GMT
My only problem are having only top half of topic titles, posters names etc visible as I use large text.

I too dislike not being able to post replies from new posts.

Not had a problem with page length (or not realised), just checked and my options are 50 and 100, have just ticked 0 and change.

Went back and it is still 50 and 100????

Admin please help!!!

NO good. :-( It won't stay at 0 even though I do click 'Change'! They go back to 50 and 100 each time and the pages are still cut off. :-(

Don't think that it's anything to do with that because mine were set at 50 and 25 - thought that I'd change to 0/0 - but it just changed to 50/100 :-( So I've changed back to 50/25 - but I can read all the posts with no problem, haven't lost any :-) Maybe you could delete your cookies and then try ?? (Probably a crap idea ??)

By Teri (*****) [gb] Date 17.12.05 16:31 GMT
LOL - it will go to 50 and 100 because these are the allowed maximum per page -  I assumed you were using lower values in the first instance ;-)

I just checked mine and its 50 and 500 :-) I remember changing it ages ago cos I had to keep 'turning' the pages, now its all on one :-)

LOl - you must be getting preferential treatment cool  Just tried re-setting mine and nope, 50 & 100 (like it or lump it for the plebs) :D
