Does garlic help against infections and fleas in dogs?

I was recently told by the breeder of my new puppy that she gives 1 garlic tablet per day to her (show) dogs and assures me that its the best method of keeping fleas away. She has 7 dogs, so I think she has enough knowledge on the subject, and when my puppy is old enough (about 3 months) I will certainly be giving it a try.

Well Debbie you are certainly right to try out things you are told by the breeder but my posted reply said in my opinion
Garlic is very good for dogs and humans , I just dont find it keeps fleas away by itself, . I have used a flea treatment on my [show] dogs after washing them or dry shampooing them whatever for the past 30 years , It is sharing your knowledge this board is about .And then letting the person decide for themselves. it wont stop them catching fleas!!!i know this for a fact, as i know someone who was sold the same story and gave her dogs garlic religously, they did catch fleas, perhaps they had no sense of smell :D

Will not stop them jumping off the dogs & living in the carpets,bedding,etc either
