A few weeks ago we got onto the subject of falconry & there was someone else other than me that flew Harris's. Really sorry but I can't remember who it was....if you are still out there i would like to pick your brains a bit please!

Hi Diane
Just wanted to run this past another harris person......I have been offered a 7 month old female, late clutch last year. She is parent reared & has been with parents until today, totally untouched! I had my last 2 birds at 16 weeks old & always thought that was the best way, but Martin Jones I know advocates leaving them in the breeding chamber for 5 months to reduce chance of becoming a screamer. Do you have any thoughts on it? She has onlyt been taken out today to have furniture put on for the journey from Brum to Devon. She will not be manned in time so will have to be boxed, but thats another story! Your thoughts much appreciated on this one!

Another thing to run past you!
A friend of mine has reduced his male HH from 1lb 5oz to 1lb 1/4oz in 6 days......I thought this was way to fast, what do you think? I have heard of birds dying in such situations & want to try & advise him against such fast weight dropping but it would be nice to tell him I am not the only one who thinks this!

Oh! what a dissapointment I've read down the thread and felt like a eavesdropper learning strange facts and an unknown language and then what do you know, someone slamed the door in my face. Feeling very guilty. JH

Sorry, I just thought it would be a boring thread talking about Harris Hawk manning and weight!

Nothing is boring to us animal fiends ;-) Actually, even though I don't have anything to do with Hawking... I was following Sam's quandries quite well. One day I'd love to look into it... but not for a long while, but I can file things away until needed. So, in the meantime, I'll look, listen, [$ learn :D that is, if you don't mind ])
cool
