THWAITES IS GHASTLY!!!! As are all other real ales! I feel sort of strongly about this subject, because I had had my very first brand new paid for car, a lovely MG Metro called Reginald, for precicely 6 days, when my wretched wee brother came home from Newcastle for the holidays, and I picked him up at Aldergrove. With him, the little &^%$£+% brought an assortment of bottles of "real ales". These he put in the back of my beautiful new car. Which he then begged and wheedled me into allowing him to drive for a bit. Brother isn't a very good driver, but Reginald did have very good brakes. Happily the little &^%$£+% missed the perfectly visible obstacle he braked so violently to avoid. Unhappily the violent braking caused the assorted bottles of real gloop to fall off the back seat and break.

I never got the smell out of that Metro. Nor have I ever again owned a brand new, straight out of the showroom car, because I stupidly acquired a husband. And I've never drunk beer, real or otherwise since .....

Northern Irish Mattie, and brought up beside the River Bush, which provides the water for the whiskey made by the oldest distillery in the UK. So I'm a Black Bush drinker by breeding and inclination.

Sharon you poor thing!!!!!! Easy solution if you ever get new car again. IT IS JUST FOR YOU!!!!!! No dogs, husband, brother, father, child, etc.... Get a two seater to just drive around in & take pleasure that one thing in your life stays "new" :D :D :D :D :D :D
toodles cool
[who doesn't drink beer or ale anymore because it makes her pathetically tired the next day --even after one glass & even the non-alcoholic stuff] :-(

Believe it or not, we have 6 cars. His 1936 MG (in bits). His 1967 Alvis (doesn't go, more filler than metal). His 1951 AC 2 litre and his 1950 Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane (both do go, but not far or often, and apparently they dissolve in the rain.

Then there is my 1996 Renault (which goes, but for some reason HE drives most of the time) and my 1979 Land Rover (which also goes, and does not dissolve, though it leaks a bit, and the heating system leaves something to be desired. For some reason I'm allowed to drive that one .....

You poor Seattlelites I don't know how you put up with it and before anybody starts, no it doesn't always rain in Manchester cool

Shhhh, here's a secret.... it doesn't always rain around Seattle either. We locals just say that all of the time. Unfortunately, too many 'visitors' have seen the "rare" sunny days, discovered how gorgeous everything is & have moved there, thus creating congestion & the dreaded smog :-(
But the soft misty rain is great for the complexion & keeps women of a certain age looking quite young :-) (We're also might be the only US region that's not facing severe drought & fire conditions for the summer, either)
cool
