Hi,
I'm after a puppy that would be born after March/ April time as we're currently in the process of moving home. I was doing agility with my 19mth old WSD until a car accident just after Christmas where he sadly lost a front leg. He was a joy to train, and as such I don't want to give up on agility. We were planning on another one at some point in 2007, but this has been brought forward.
I'm looking for a collie pup with brains and good temperament, preferably with parents who have been worked in agility to a high standard (ideally Intermediate or above) or field trials. Being dual registered with ISDS would be perfect. My current dog is a B&W and I would prefer a different colour to him - red & white would be my first choice, but the puppy will be chosen for temperament above colour so finding the right litter is my first priority.
If there are any breeders out there with matings planned shortly I would be interested to hear from them. In the meanwhile I am checking out websites searching for planned litters.
Thanks,
Gemma
only gundogs registered on the breed register may compete in field trials, therefore BCs cannot enter...........
If, as I think you may be, are thinking of Working Trials, that is of course something that the BC excels in.
One of the most successful BC/WSD breeders in the UK is Mike Snow of the Waggerland affix, there are multiple CC winners in both Working Trials (both stakes) and Agility bearing the Waggerland affix. His BC line is also dual registered. They are renowned for their exceptional temperaments.
However, he generally has a very long waiting list, and never needs to advertise ............
I've heard of Mike, but haven't been able to get contact details for him - I don't suppose you can help?
Thanks,
Gemma

try the Agility net website - they often advertise pups for sale with a strong working/agility background

Thanks Yvonne, I have been keeping a close eye there, but I'm after planned litters rather than those who are ready now. I've got a couple of leads now from different people so hopefully my perfect puppy is out there somewhere!
Cheers,
Gemma

just wanted to add that they arent all dual reg, mine isnt! i have his contact info if you would like it tho

Someone I know has just got a Waggerland pup and it is WSD.
This is the first one I have met from this breeding and I have to say he would certainly not be for a novice handler, I don't know whether this is normal for the line. Lovely little chap though.

mike breeds both

Andy Nichols breed ours and he trains sheepdogs always has litters on the go. He's based in Worcester his web site can be found if you goggle working sheepdogs. "the working sheep dog wedsite" ours has Glen as a sire and Pearl his Dam.
> always has litters on the go
I know nothing about this breeder, but would be wary of anyone who always has litters on the go

I am sure you didn't really mean that did you?
Barbara and the Grey Curly Tails.
I've just had a look at the website suggested - there is a very detailed section on "
Questions and answers to consider before applying for a puppy". Useful reading for anyone considering a working sheepdog.
Actually I think the whole site is presented very well and makes really interesting reading... sounds like a nice bloke too

Um no he breeds regularly he has about 20 dogs and they go all over the world so he has a waiting list. If it sounded a bit odd Im sorry but we waited 12 months for ours and he does always have pups - well not every month but about three a year from various bitches all ISDS.
Andy has at one time about 30 in training, breeding, ect.
his web site is very informative and he is well thought of in his field. Soe do not have the herding instict and those he sells on as well as pups. He has two pups and two who are no good with sheep and one or two starter dogs at the moment. He interviews all prospective buyers before allowing them to put down a deposit and I would not buy another collie from abyone else having met him and having one of his dogs. If OH would let me I would get another tomorrow!
Yes and he really grills you as well, the Q&A section is good and he has released video's if you check further on his site you can see a bit of the video's and on one is Jake!!!! as a fat puppy.
I really would recommend Andy.

Very Stylish! This is a old Post, But their are lots of Waggerland Fizz & Waggerland Jake Puupies in Obedience. My own boy Mav (foreverMagic Xrated) is by Waggerland Jake.
The colliewoods & Ruskaths both have Used Waggerland Fizz & Jake. This is Mikes WS line though not the BC line
