HI Dessie,

I dont think that i will be going down to southern counties anymore, cos the breeder is coming down on the sunday night instead now, and i have a feeling i might be a bit busy on the monday! Shame though, as i was really looking forward to meeting you and nickie.

I went up yesterday to pick, and sure enough it is the lit'lun that we are going to have: he is so adorable - and her pick of the litter if he just weighed a couple of ounces more!
He has such a cheeky character, but is quite laid back too. Can't wait to see what cleo makes of him!
I have more and better pics if you would like a sneaky peek?

By Dessie [gb] Date 31.05.02 08:19 GMT
Hi Alex

Thats a shame that you wont be coming to Southern Counties, but the thought of going to a Dog Show and spending time with a new puppy, there's no comparison really. Enjoy him and I can't wait to see the pictures when I get back on Tuesday.

Enjoy your long weekend :D

Take care and hopefully we will meet up at a later date.

Dessie

P.S. Don't worry about him being small Douglas was the smallest in his litter and has come in fantastically :D They don't always stay the smallest !!!
By cleopatra [gb] Date 31.05.02 08:22 GMT
Dessie,

I send them to you now, just pick them up whenever you can...

Best of luck for both you and NIckie - knock um dead! You must tell us how you got on immediately... ;-)

Well Briedog did brilliantly with Gollie. She got first in her class, best bitch and best opposite sex, not bad for a7 month old!!

Well done Terri and Gollie and keep up the good work.
By BethN Date 01.06.02 20:53 GMT
Blimey !!!! Well done Terri (and Gollie of course) :-)

The Mockodile is 7 months old and I wouldn't DARE take him to any show (except ones with categories that are non dependant on behaviour ie : prettiest eyes etc etc) :D :D
By dizzy [gb] Date 01.06.02 22:09 GMT
the headcase!!!!casey pulled out the stops, went well and won the limit class ,she seems to of realised at last what shes meant to do  her sister pheobe got 2nd in post grad so well pleased with the both of them, ---i only saw one swd, it was all black. could it of been golly,?
By briedog (*****) [gb] Date 02.06.02 05:48 GMT
yes that was her,
By dizzy [gb] Date 02.06.02 11:32 GMT
she was stood not too far away from the poodle ring, as i was getting nearer i wondered what clip it was supposed to be :d then i saw the whole dog and reaslised !! saw some lovley bracco too, -a standard poodle got lose and took off running between the sharpei-poodles and the akita ring, she was full of carry on having a great time, a sharpei snapped its collar and took off after it, the two of them where having a wonderful time-not so the akita handlers :-(---anyhow the pei was finally rugby tackled and caught and the poodle eventually surrendered
By Kash [gb] Date 02.06.02 13:01 GMT

On their way Kash! And how is your girl doing then?
By Dessie [gb] Date 05.06.02 08:29 GMT
Hi Guys

Glad to see that you all had such a great time at Southern Counties. Well done you winners :D

I'm going to give up meeting people at Shows as I can never find any of them :-( What probably made it worse was that the Cocker tent was so muddy that everybody set up outside it so I wasn't at my bench.

Douglas and Bart both got a Reserve in their classes :-) So we missed the 3rd placing again, but we will be over for Paignton :D They both showed well so I can't complain. Just need to put some weight on Douglas as he is a little skinny at the moment.

Take care everybody and I hope you all enjoyed your lovely long weekend.
By issysmum [gb] Date 05.06.02 08:36 GMT
I tried to find you, but as the benching area was so awful I gave up :-( I did see you in the ring in your first class, you'd just put your boy on the table - he looked great. I wanted to hang around and talk to you afterwards but Jonathon needed the loo and by the time we got back you were nowhere in sight :-(

Dizzy - I looked for you as well, but couldn't find you either, I was standing by the main ring when the Shar Pei and Poodle created havoc. There was an awful lot of mutterings about it, but it did look funny!!

Hope to see you at another show,

Fiona

Hi Fiona

I was towards the other end of the ring for most of the classes sat down by the Golden Retriever end with friends from Belgium. Would have been great to meet you. Got put off saying hello to a few people I found as one Cocker Breeder was so rude when I said hello in the ring, so I didn't bother with anybody else :-(

Hopefully we will meet up one day and if you do see me wait for me to come out of the ring or something :D
By issysmum [gb] Date 05.06.02 11:36 GMT
Holly's entered at the Bournemouth and Birmingham championship shows - will you be coming over for those??

I too found some of the Cocker people rude, but I didn't dare say anything incase I met them in the ring as a judge later on!!

I spoke to a lot of Akita people and the Vizsla people and they were all really friendly. There was one very helpful Cocker lady at the show, she owns Holly's dad, and she was really nice. She didn't remember I'd spoken to her at WELKS when I started talking to her and she was really helpful. She was telling me about grooming and ringcraft and was really nice. Mind you, I'll never compete against her so maybe that helped, I don't know.

Fiona

PS - You looked really nice!!
By Dessie [gb] Date 05.06.02 14:07 GMT
Glad you noticed that I was dressed for the occasion Fiona. So many of the other exhibitors were just in jeans and t-shirts :D I always make the effort when Showing even at Open Shows I wear either my suit or trousers and a nice jumper :D

The Staffie people at the Show were really friendly, as I was sat ringside on Monday whilst my friend showed her two :D Not all the Cocker people are like that as I have met a couple of wonderful ladies from Belgium and they are great, one has even invited me over to Belgium for the International Dog Show in August which is in Holland. Would love to go but I can't see the other half buying it :D :D

I might be doing Bournemouth not sure yet as the Cockers are on the Monday I would have to take two days off my holidays :D :D And the other half wants to go to New York ;-)
By issysmum [gb] Date 05.06.02 14:12 GMT
I've got a really good book about showing and it says in there about how you should dress for the occasion and jeans/trainers are a complete no-no. I couldn't believe it expecially at an champ show

Bournemouth or New York? There's no choice there, just send me a postcard from the Empire State building :D

Congratulations Derryn,
Pity that Gundogs and Working are always on different days. I would have loved to met up with you.
By cleopatra [gb] Date 05.06.02 11:39 GMT
HI Dessie,
How did you and nickie get on at the walden show?
And was the camping part an experience :D!
By Dessie [gb] Date 05.06.02 14:10 GMT
Hi Alex

Had a quick look to see how you Cleo and Solo were getting on he seems to be fitting in well. I'm sure Cleo will get used to him :D :D

Douglas is in love with both Remy and Daisy I think :D Bless them quite funny seeing this little Cocker playing with two Staffies :D

Unfortunately Nickie didn't place at the Champ Show, the judge went for a smaller build of Dog and Remy is very well muscled, we think she is perfect. Daisy needs to put on weight and keep still in the ring. She was a right madam and really played up when Nickie was trying to stand her :D

The Open Show they won the Brace against a Brace of Whippets and Remy won her class, but unfortunately she was the only on in it. Better luck on the 16 June for our Centenary Show though :D

Will hopefully get round to seeing those pics of Solo tonight, providing I can keep awake :D

The camping was fun though, we just had a little rain Sunday night and Monday night, but apart from that we had a laugh. I had Nickie in hysterics trying to get into my sleeping bag :D

hi

terri
By dizzy [gb] Date 05.06.02 18:10 GMT
i wasnt going to bring this up, but as a couple of you have already then i will!!!, i went over to the cocker ring to see if i could find you but at the left bottom side a black roan cocker flew out and nearly took the face off the sharpei, wed walked them around [2 of them] to stretch their legs as theyd had a really long journey and spent a lot of time caged, the pei jumped back and the cocker shot back between its owners legs, i was going to say something about it and decided to leave it as there was no damage-UNTIL!!!! as i walked off i heard the cockers owner muttering to the crowd around her about , something ,something the sharpei!!, i was fuming, so i stopped and asked her excactly what she had just said???? she looked straight away and said -i didnt say anything!!!!, to which i not very quietly replied---i hope you arent blaming the sharpei for that!!!it wasnt my dog it was yours that flew out!!!!obviously sorry wasnt an option as far as she was concerned, however she obviously wasnt used to a confrontation as she back tracked rather quickly, mad
By Dessie [gb] Date 05.06.02 20:43 GMT
Hi Dizzy

Sorry to hear about this incident - I wish I had been there as I would have loved to of seen your dogs :-)

So people are just so rude, but I guess that comes with Dog Showing and having alot of people in one place.

Take care and hopefully we will eventually meet up.

Derryn
By dizzy [gb] Date 05.06.02 20:56 GMT
youve no need to be sorry, you cant be held responsible for all cocker owners :D :D. we all know accidents happen, id had to say sorry as i entered as the [nice?] people in their VERY WHITE coats where taking our passes, casey jumped up to say hello-she left one very clear ,very muddy footprint on the white overall, i apologized lots, the owner of the overall glared back-lots!!! never spoke to me yet, --howver i did apoligize eek lots
