Am very jealous :-( I have just finished my cheese bread and am swigging it down with plain old coke. F inished of all my wine on sunday. (not been to tesco yet)
Just a quick question
Has anyone ever tried playing Scrabble after drinking copious amounts of alcohol? :D :D :D
Well I do not encourage this very dangerous sport. I think I stopped breathing I was laughing so much :D

My favourites are South American (Chilean ) Cabernet Sauvignon or a good Merlot and Australian ones too. Spanish reds come a close second, especially with pasta. For a real treat I will buy myself a bottle of Whiskey, if I am feeling flush my fave is a bottle of Bells, which will last a good fortnight just having a couple of an evening. To be truthful a fine whiskey is wasted on me, and am just as happy with a bottle of "shops own" as a bottle of something special!! There isn't a drop of anything in the house at the mo, after all this talk about it my mouth is fair watering - oh well have to wait til tomorow now! My husband makes liqueurs froma kit bought at the local homebrew shop. They are yummy - for £10 ish you can buy a kit that makes a gallon. Coconut rum ( just like Malibu) Melon Liqueur and Chocholate Mint are the ones we have tried so far, well recommended for Christmas. They also do Whiskey and Brandy ones but haven't tried those yet. In fact I think with all this talk about it, I'll get one tomorrow - oh yes they only take 3 weeks to make.

MM,
I love going just over the border and purchasing various types of Cidre from Normandy. I like Woodpecker [$ Strongbow too. But imo the French Cidre accompanies dinner better. Similar to the wine vs. ale debate ])
cool

I drink 4 or 5 large glasses of dry white wine, preferably Australian Chardonnay, every evening (without fail), I know it's way over what's recommended, but I love it :-) ( and I don't have any other vices)

Nah, Mari, not a killjoy :D I remember all of the household uses my mom, grandma, & great grandmother had for Apple Cider and Apple Cider vinager. I guess I've broken the tradition :-( Just never could see the bonuses of using it to clean windows and tabletops, though :D

eek I wouldn't be without Apple Cider Vinegar!
I add it to my dogs drinking water and know a few people who add it to their horses drinking water although I don't. It's great for arthritis as well if you mix it with honey :-)
By issysmum [gb] Date 07.06.02 09:21 GMT
What does it do if you add it to the dogs water?? I know about the tomato juice for non grass burning urine but I've never heard of vinegar?

White vinegar is great as an alternative to fabric softener. It softens the fabric without coating the fibres and therefore affecting the absorbancy. I use it on the nappies and towels all the time.

And for those with parrots look here

By the way it also works in the same way as the tomatoes for the urine :-)

Suggestions for a white wine that is neither dry or sweet - middle of the
road. I've never really drank red wine. Only drink white occasionally.
By gina (****) [gb] Date 12.06.02 11:56 GMT
Hi Pam,

After saying about all the other wines I like I also like an Italian wine called Orvietto Classico (must say Classico or too sweet around the £3-4 mark to buy). As Goldilocks would say this is jussttt right !!!! :D

Regards Gina

LAWDY!!!! Where have I been. I can't believe I've missed this subject for so long.........LOL

I love wine, preferably red but will drink white too. Don't like the rose stuff. Don't mind too much what region it comes from except there are 2 things I really hate, Australian wine and Chardonnay. I have noooo idea why, can anyone enlighten me as to what is in these 2 types that I might not like?? I also hate anything oaky or blackberry types.

My favourite is a South African red called RailRoad Red, tremendous stuff, I love californian wine too, enjoy french wine but preferably the older stuff 96 or 97. Blossom Hill goes down v easily and no hangover. :D Never tried organic, might have to give that one a bash.

As for how much, well sometimes I can go.........wait for it........3 or 4 weeks without a single drop then all of a sudden I'll have a couple of bottles over a weekend. Not good I don't think. I'll then get into the habit of having a glass or 2 a night then nothing again for 3 or 4 weeks. :-)
