Please Help!
We have rescued 2 lovely dogs. Jasper, a springer/collie cross is now 18 months old and we have had him for a year, and Paddy, a pure springer is 6 months old and we've had him for 2 months.
Jasper WAS walking beautifully, but since the arrival of Paddy he has started to pull a little.
Paddy, is a loony, and can easily pull be off my feet already. We've tried Gentle Leader head collars, and Halti harnesses, but he pulls just as much on both of these, and makes himself very sore.
I don't know what to try next, as everyone tells me that choke chains are a no-go area.
PLEASE can someone help???
Katy.

Kathy I dont think a choke chain is a no go area , it does allow you control . you could also buy a Halti this is also very successfull Mari

Just a quick tip that I was advised to use by a friend.
You need to allow a bit of extra time on your walk.
when you are walking keep turning in front of him, efeectively cutting him up :D and frequent changes of direction. Just stop and circle. It worked for Ruby after about 5 minutes, she just had to take notice of me as she did not know what I would do next. :D This is just my opinion as I am no way experienced about these sort of things but it did work for mine.

Sounds good to me Ali .. Mari
I tried this technique this morning ... you're right - you do need to leave more time on your walk!
By the end of the walk I was getting to be quite dizzy. My neighbours thought I had finally gone potty, but Paddy thought it was a great game and was as exciteable as ever!!! Maybe I'll keep working at it! Thanks for the advice tho'!
Hi Katie and Rob - what excellent choices you've made with your breeds - I have exactley the same - Bonnie is a 9 year old ESS x BC and Missy is a pure bred ESS aged rising 3. Bonnie still pulls on an ordinarly collar, and flings her self around with a Halti inspite of very careful introduction, but is a pleasure to walk on a body harness, so maybe this should be your route?
