This is to celebrate the life of our rabbit Shuey who went to sleep this week at 12 years old.
I met him when he was 4 years old when I met my OH, he was kept in a small hutch and not let out so he was very viscious

. We made Shuey a new super large hutch and a nice run and pampered him as much as possible. He completely changed his personalitly

. he loved my OH, bouncing around his feet.
After a few months we got a second rabbit - Marti. Marti was bought as a female but the vet sexed her as a male. Even though Shuey and Marti were kept seperate, accidents happen and our "male" rabbit Marti had two babies - Harvey (female) and Mac (male). (sorry but can you tell we were into alcohol with the names!! ;-D). More hutches were needed!!! We kept all four rabbits happily for several years. Marti, left us first. Harvey went to sleep a few years ago so we were left with the two boys.
For the past six years, every winter we have said to each other that we didn't expect Shuey to last the winter but every year he just kept going. We stopped getting him vaccinated at least two years ago when the vet said he thought he was on deaths door and was going to pass soon but he just kept going. The vet never believed his age saying the rabbits average age is 6 years old. He did look a bit like the pope before he went - go and visit and you wonder if he is still here

We now are left with Mac, Shuey's 7 year old son.
Shuey went to sleep this week after 12 years. This is not a sad story and although we will miss him, we are happy of his extra long life. Please don't feel sorry for our loss as (without sounding heartless) it is good that he has gone, some things are just not meant to go on too long.
