It is three weeks today I had Ito put to sleep and I still feel so lost and empty. I collected his ashes today and the sad thing he was cremated on Tuesday 20th March on what would have been his 12th Birthday. I have been in tears all day I miss him so much.

I am sorry you are still feeling very upset :-(

Give it time as it is early days and don't be afraid to cry as it doesn't help :-)

take care

It is always a very traumatic time and crying is just part of the grieving process.  Eventually you will laugh again and usually when you talk about their antics and the things they did but it does take time.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

I'm so sorry, I know just how you feel, but it does get easier. I still miss Dakko and its 15 months since we lost him, but we had him for 13+ years and it left a huge hole in my life.  Most people on here will understand how you feel. Soon you will remember the happy times.

Julie,
Believe me its early days... crying is normal... its been just over 13 months since my charlie was sadly pts... its probably right for me to say that ive only just began to feel normal...
I still talk about him and miss him. (im in the middle of moving bedrooms  and i didnt want to in case charlie couldnt find me.... sounds mad eh?)
If you look for my postings you will see that its perfectly normal to seel like crap ...
Enjoy having ito back at home where he belongs... I spent weeks taking charlie to bed and wrapping myself up in his blanket... so dont worry its fine to miss him
He'll be with you, now and always.. waiting at the bridge

Thinking of you
