Hi all

I got asked a question the other day by a young prospective handler.
I don't know the anwser - so I figured I'd ask you guys! :D
She asks whats the minimum age a handler has to be to enter into conformation shows? (not Junior handling etc).

Thanks!

Hal

Don't think they have to be members to show a dog in breed classes, do they? JH

No, I'm sure they don't have to be members. They only have to be members to go in for the Junior Handler's classes.

Well they do not hav to be a member of the YKC to enter breed classes. In theory you can be any age as long as you can cope with showing a dog.

With the YKC it does cost £7 to join but you must be 8 years old or over. This allows you to take part in YKC handling, stakes and other classes and events. You get membership badges and also newsletters and free entry to crufts, discover dogs asw ell as lots of other goodies.

At shows there are also the JHA classes. You do not need to be a member to enter but you must be at least 6 years old (upto 16).
The youngsters placed 1st-3rd qualifier for the handlign semi finals at Richmond, where to enter they must then pay a £2 subscription to become a member of the Junior Handling Association. Any more help needed? Let me know.
