Glenys has asked me if I would post the following sad news...
After Ned's lump was removed on the 26th of February we received the news that he had a carcinoma,we were told it was not curable and had spread ,we were offered chemo therapy but decided against it when we were told he had weeks not months to live,we opted instead for tablets.
Over the weeks we have seen a change in Ned our 100 mile an hour dog had slowed down, everyday I looked at his gorgeous face and wondered how long he would be with us and how unfair it all was ,a dog so loved and wanted,I had a mixture of feelings as I am sure Sam had sadness, anger, frustration that nothing could help him.
We noticed his breathing had changed and sometimes he was struggling usually after exercise, and when he met friends instead of the Neddy welcome paws on your shoulders he didn't jump up.
We decided to take Ned away last weekend and have a special time with him and no other dogs he enjoyed it so much we took the shorter walks with him,but even so after his breathing was laboured,we gave home all his favourite treats ,sausages especially and at night he slept with us.
The last morning I took him for his walk all the way round watching him hunting round and splashing in the stream, but we kept having to stop for a rest,I knew then this would be our last special time at the caravan.
We took him to the vets on Monday and an x-ray was arranged for this morning we waited in the car,Michael the vet came out a short while later he said the cancer had spread two bits on his lung and one near his nether regions,Michael said we could take him home and he could help with any pain relief but he only had a little time really and we did know he was in pain by things he was doing.
We decided to let our most beloved boy go as he was still under anaesthetic so he just didn't wake up we couldn't bear to think he was in pain.
And so we now don't have our hundred mile an hour dog,the biggest character we have known just 4 years 10 months but those years we would never have missed because he was so special all our friends loved him life wont be the same.

Oh Glenys I am so sorry to hear this news, it only seems like yesterday when you came down here to get the lad.
There is nothing I can say to ease your pain, but you must treasure those few years that you had him, and you let him go before things got so bad that he was in pain.
My love to you and Sam.xxx

{{{hugs}}}} Glenys - I am so sorry to read this. But what a gift you have had in Ned - and what a gift you have given Ned.
Nothing will help ease your pain just now - but I do hope that later, when you read these notes, you will be able to remember not to be sad that he has gone, but to be glad that you had him - and he had you.
Love
