I dont know if anyone will remember my last post about Rosie
http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/board/topic_show.pl?pid=824832;hl=;hlm=and#pid824832 she had MVD and was nine years old - her parents and her grandparents were heart and eye certificated and Rosie only developed MVD in feb this year so we had done well.
I came downstairs yesterday morning and she had collapsed, she had wet herself, and was having trouble breathing.  She couldnt walk at all and all her legs were splayed out.

I rushed her to the PDSA and she was helped to rainbow bridge.  The vet said that she was full of fluid even on the vetmedin and frusamide and she would probably have felt as though she was drowning.

Rosie was the constant in mine and my childrens life - she had seen my eldest son start school (hes now 13 1/2), my youngest born, my stroke and then youngest start school.  She witnessed my violent marriage and then came with us together with £50 and suitcase to a refuge, and saw us move 200 miles in feb to a new house and a garden to sun herself in.  She was there for me throughout with a waggy tail and a neck to cry into.

Im falling apart  and Im not coping with this at all - Ive been dreading it and now its happened.  My heart really feels as though its breaking into tiny pieces.

I remember your posts and all I can say is that gradually the painful memories will be replaced y the good.  You loved her and did your best by her.

I am so sorry you lost your faithful friend. It seems like she hung on just long enough to see you through to a better life. I can't ease the pain of you losing her, but remember that at the bridge there is no pain for her anymore, and she will be peaceful and happy. She is going to be looking down and watching you as you get on with your new life. When the time comes she will meet you at the bridge, wagging her tail.

So sorry for your loss, you will come to terms with her passing, but it will be hard as most of us on here know from experience

You gave her a good life & she was there when you really needed her.

As time passes the good memories will out weigh the sadness i still get upset when I think of any of my dogs that have gone to The Bridge before me.

She is free from pain & waiting for you at The Bridge, I'm sure my cavalier boys will have found her & will keep her safe for you.

Cyber {{{{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}}}} to you & your children

Oh Janice, how heartbreaking. We all know what it is like, and no-one can make it better, only time. It's a crushing feeling I know, but as everyone says, the pain does lessen and you will remember her with smiles and you will always miss her, quite rightly. The only thing to balance out the pain you are feeling, is that she is free of any pain and discomfort now and you wouldn't have wanted her to suffer because you loved her.

I am so sorry you lost your Rosie. You have my deepest sympathy; she was your rock and your refuge through the bad times. She'll always be with you in your heart.

Dogs arent sad when they pass, so neither should we be, but we should hold their memory forever.

Thankyou for all your lovely messages, we are still reeling here - her basket is still in the kitchen because I cant pluck up the courage to move it yet.  I know that one day I will be able to remember her with smiles, but at the moment there is a very large dog shaped gap in my life.  Im at home everyday, so all my activities involved Rosie in someway.  Rosie behind the front door when I opened it, Rosie at the bottom of the stairs sleeping, hearing her snore, Rosie noticing as soon as the can opener coming out of the drawer when we had tuna pasta for tea (she loved a tiny bit of tuna). I still feel as if shes gone out for a walk with a friend and will be home soon.

I'm so sorry. :-( In time that dog-shaped hole will be filled with love and happy memories, not tears and sad ones.

She came into your life at a time when you needed a friend. She left you, when you were strong enough to say thanks and goodbye,.. I'll be OK now.
Remembering her and always loving her will be easy as they can never leave us completely, but wait for us.

I vividly remember your original post. What can I add to the above messages, nothing I'm sorry, but that I am very sorry. I think spiritulist has summed it up. Sleep well little girl.
The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail instead of his tongue.
