A maths question for any brainboxes out there:) I've just purchased the frontline spray for my cat and dog but I'm having some trouble working out the doseage I've been at work all day so my brains frazzeled- I keep coming up with a different answer each time- I don't and can't afford to get this wrong.

Delivers 1.5ml spray per pump action. Dose rate:3-6 ml/kg.

Kassie weighs 17kg and Thai weighs 3kg.

All or any help with finding how many sprays per pet are very much appreciated please:)

Thai 6 to 12 pumps, Kassie 34 to 68 pumps. Actually "The Flower" weighs around 33KG and I give her around 65 to 70 pumps when I do her.

Just remember to count two squirts per kilo! which will be 6ml. I have 20kg dogs so they get 40 squirts each, that is a bottle between 4!

Stacey, personally I wouldn't use the spray on my cat

I have found the pipettes easier to use and you can not *overdose* with them.
Also, you can use the pipette in one hit. When your up against '5 points of attack', it's much safer for you :D

Leigh- What about if I spray it onto my *gloved* hand and stroked it through him?

I always use the pipettes on mine, as Leigh sys you can't overdose then and they are much easier, plus you don't have to calculate the dose. As my dogs are giant sometimes I find that it is easier to split the dose between two 'sites', between the shoulders and base of the tail, otherwise one area may get too wet before it soaks in.

Do you know that you can buy the pump action fromtline
and then using a syringe you can put it on the neck
like you do with the pipettes,
its quicker easier and cheaper.
Just check how much is in a pipette and use the syringe to get the required amount.

Right so could I actually get the syring I use when worming etc and pull up from the frontline bottle and put it onto the back of his neck (the cat). The thing is it says on the label that it only kills them when they come into contact with the affected area Sorry to be a pain but I'm new at all this;)

Please be sure your frontline is for cats 1st.
But yes if you find out how much a pipette holds
if you take a syringe and pull that much out and put it on the cats neck and or base of tail your cat will be covered.
it works by working thorugh the coat
I have a friend who owns a cattery and kennels and her vet advised her she can do this.
I have done it and it works,I have 1 rottie that can only be sprayed but the others can have the pipettes so now i get the best of both worlds,and it works out cheaper.

It does say on the label for dogs and cats- doesn't give out any dosage though for cats The reason I'm using the spray on Kassie (dog) is because she's still a pup and the pipettes are based on a weight- her's isn't stable yet so by the time I came to give her the other doses she would probably need more than they give

If you find out how much to give Kassie now from her weight (look on a pipette box) then you can give it her now then a little more (again check on pipette) the next time,
All you need to do is find out how much is in the right pipette for your dog/cat size that they are now and syringe that then next time check again.
I must say i hadnt given it much thought as tothe pups weight increasing before the next dose,
thats another good reason for the syringe

The frontline will work its way over the body.
The lady who owns the kennels did say that fleas will go mainly for neck and tails.
I promise you it does work,the pipettes work and they only go on the one spot.

Thanks again Carolyn:) It'll be much easier to squirt the cat a bit rather than spray him- he darts off at the sound of hairspray, deoderant etc- he's also that bit older so slightly more temperamental- and I'm more scared of him than Kassie:O He also doesn't like his fur being brushed the opposite way so with the syringe- I'll be able to just work the end through his fur:) A flea collar has always been fine for him before he doesn't roam that much for a Tom but with Kass being here too these days I don't want them to get fleas and keep passing them on between each other if that makes sense:)
